Basics About Certification Testing
Any technician who wants to document his or her professional
abilities and skills, advance his or her career, or who has a desire for excellence should
take the test. Your certification lasts for three years. Then, you must
be re-certified to maintain your status. OPEESA maintains the records and
will notify you when you need to be re-certified.
The original test fees and re-certification
fees are $45. If you fail your first test and need to retake it, the cost
is only $35.
There are several books and study guides that can
be helpful in preparing for the test. The study guides cost $12 and
the books vary from $40-$60.These study guidesand books are listed on the registration form and can be purchased at the
same time as you register for the exam.
How Do I Get Started?
- Find your
nearest testing center and contact them regarding dates and
times for testing. (You will need this information to complete your
application.)
- Complete the application form and
send it to OPEESA. (You may download the form
here, as well as information about the study guide materials.) The form can then be
mailed or faxed to OPEESA.
- Study for the exam(s). OPEESA
will inform you about any changes to the testing dates and
times.
- Arrive 20 minutes early on test
day. This will give you time to sign-in and receive
instructions. Allow two hours for each test.
You will be notified of your test
score. If you pass, you will receive a certificate from OPEESA. You
can also purchase and wear the
attractive EETC arm patch, to show your co-workers and customers that
you are certified. Order patches

If you did not pass, you will have the
chance to retake the test.
