21st Annual S.T.E.P. Purchasing July 16-20, 2012

S.T.E.P. Purchasing provides a centralized location for manufacturers to introduce new products and programs into the distributor marketplace.  S.T.E.P. will be held July 16-20, 2012 at the Sheraton Chicago O’Hare. The hotel is being renovated this winter so we will have a fresh, “new” hotel for the next Conference. Mark your calendars now!

NMDA Unveils a New Website

NMDA has unveiled a new website with a refreshed design and easy-to-use navigation (www.nmdaonline.com). This site is also mobile-friendly! We now have sections dedicated to S.T.E.P. and the Executive Conference, so all the latest information will be posted in those areas. The latest news items will appear on the right hand side of the site and we will be updating this information often, so please check back on a regular basis. We also included a "search" function to make it easy to find information.

All NMDA members' passwords and logins were transferred to the new site, so you should be able to access the Member's Only area.  The full Member's Directory is now in this area, as well as key news items that can impact your company.  If you have trouble accessing the Member's Only area or need a login and password, contact our webmaster

Please take a few minutes to view the site and if you have any comments or ideas for improving the website, please contact Nancy.

Two NLRB Actions that May Affect You

Posting Required Regarding Labor Unions

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has issued a final rule requiring most employers to post a notice informing employees of their rights under Federal law to organize and join labor unions. The rule will take effect and the notice will have to be posted on November 14, 2011, and will have to meet specific requirements in terms of size and language. For details, visit the members only area on the website.

NLRB Decision Approves Union Petition to Cherry-Pick a Single Job Classification for Organization

The new standard will – and is designed to – facilitate the creation of “micro bargaining units” which will allow labor unions to organize just a few employees out of a single facility, and effectively “cherry-pick” a group of labor-friendly workers. Again, visit the members only section for more information.
