OPEESA is launching a new track built specifically for the people already doing tomorrow’s job today, whatever their age or title on paper: the OPEESA Emerging Leaders Group. It kicks off with a launch reception on October 20, 2026, from 4 to 6 PM at The Sports & Social Club in Louisville, held during the Equip Exposition.

OPEESA defines an Emerging Leader simply: someone growing in their role, expanding their influence, and taking on greater leadership responsibility within their organization and the OPE channel. That definition is deliberately broad — it isn’t tied to a title, a department, or a specific age cutoff, but to trajectory.

The group’s mission is to strengthen three things members told OPEESA they needed most as they move into bigger roles: skills, perspective, and connections. Practically, that means programming aimed at practical, career-stage leadership development; exposure to how peers at other distributor, manufacturer, and affiliate companies are handling the same challenges; and relationships built to last the length of a career, not just a conference badge.

The October 20 reception is intentionally low-key — no panels, no name tags that make it feel like a college orientation. It’s a chance for rising leaders across the channel to meet the people who will be their best industry contacts for the next twenty years, over cornhole, pool, darts, and a couple of drinks. Space is limited.

This reception is a preview. The full OPEESA Emerging Leaders program — including its curriculum and ongoing structure — launches at the OPEESA Annual Meeting this February. Member companies with a rising leader in mind are encouraged to get them on the list early.

Companies interested in sending someone, or in learning more before committing, can request an invitation directly from OPEESA.
